Prevacid Uses

Prevacid reduces the amount of the acid made in stomach. Prevacid is Used to treat and prevent the stomach and intestine from cankers, erosive esophagitis (the damage in gullet from gastric acid), and the other conditions, including high gastric acid such as, syndrome Zollinger-Ellison. Prevacid Can be also used for other conditions not specified in these medication guide.

How Taken

Prevacid comes as long-term medication in capsules to take orally. Prevacid Usually is taken daily before meal. Take Prevacid exactly as it is directed. Do not take this medication more or less or more often than was prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the whole capsule. If you have a difficulty swallowing capsules, Prevacid can be open, and granules can be put into apple juice and are swallowed immediately. The Granules must not be chewed or crushed. Remain to take Prevacid even though you feel well. Do not cease to take Prevacid without speaking to your doctor

Warnings/Precautions

Before taking Prevacid, tell your doctor if you have ever had liver disease. You cannot be capable to take Prevacid, or you may require defining the dosage or special checking during treating. Prevacid is in category B of pregnancy. This means that it is not expected to do harm to a future baby. Do not take Prevacid without first talk with your doctor if you are pregnant. It is unknown if this medicine can pass into breast milk. Do not take Prevacid without first talk with your doctor if you are breast-feeding.

Missed Dose

If you miss the dose of this medicine have it when you remember. If it is nearly time for your following dose, miss the missed dose and come back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Possible Side Effects

Serious side effects from Prevacid are not common. Cease to take Prevacid and search for emergency medical attention if you feel any allergic reaction (the breathing difficulties; hives; the tumor of the lips, language, or body)
Others, more serious side effects can be more probably to occur. Remain to take Prevacid and talk with your doctor if you feel
-a diarrhoea, sickness, or abdominal pain;
-a dizziness; or
-headache
Other side effects except specified above can also occur. Talk with your doctor about any side effect, which seems unusual or particularly bothersome

Storage

Keep Prevacid in the room temperature from moisture and heat away

Overdose

Search for emergency medical attention if overdose is suspected. Symptoms of overdose with Prevacid is unknown.

More Information

There are no restrictions in food, drink, or activity when taking Prevacid if otherwise they are not defined by your doctor.
