Flomax (Tamsulosin) is the medicine from the group of drugs called alpha-blocker blockers. Flomax helps the blood to circulate through veins. It is a relaxing drug. It weakens the muscles situated in prostate. Flomax is designed for men who have problems with urination and suffer from benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH)

Common uses

Benign prostatic hypertrophy (bph) can be treated with Flomax which is a good alpha blocker.

Before using

Before taking Flomax you must tell your doctor if you are allergic to drugs. Make a special monitoring and ask your doctor about the risks that can appear. It is the drug from FDA pregnancy category B. Flomax is forbidden for children. If you already take drugs that treat erectile dysfunctions, for example: sildenafil or vardenafil - DO NOT TAKE Flomax together with them. You will need a special control if you use any other alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, doxazosin).

Your doctor must supervise you during the whole period of treatment. He will decide when to begin or to finish the treatment. If you have some unusual feelings such us high or low blood pressure or allergy, call your doctor immediately. You may ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions regarding the medicine

Directions

Before taking the drug ask your doctor to give you a prescription. The patient can have a leaflet containing the necessary information. Ask all the questions you have before you take Flomax. Your doctor, nurse or pharmacist must answer them. The pill must be swallowed whole.

The pill must be taken every day at the same time, 30 minutes after meal. Keep Flomax in dark and dry place in a well-closed container. If you forgot to take a pill in time, you must take it as soon as you remember. If you see that the next pill time is near, leave out the missed pill and do not forget to take the next one in time .Do not take two pills instead of one!

Cautions

Flomax starts to work after a week of use. Do not interrupt taking Flomax, first call your doctor. It is preferable not to drive a car or work with machinery during the period of treatment, because you don't know which effects will be. Do not take Flomax together with alcohol or other drugs. It may unable you to make actions that require your concentration.

You may feel giddiness or feebleness if you take Flomax together with alcohol. High temperature and fever can lead to the same symptoms. In order to prevent the giddiness you may do some physical exercises especially in the morning. Stand up slowly; sit down when you feel the weakness. If you take some non-prescription medicines ask your doctor about the risk of taking drugs together.

Possible side effects

You may have some side effects during the period of treatment such as somnolence, giddiness, weakness, sleeplessness, nasal congestion, unusual ejaculation, muscle feebleness, back pain, cough. If you have any of these symptoms call your doctor immediately. Call your doctor if your eyesight became worse. You may have other symptoms not listed above.

If you take too much

The effect of overdose can be damaging. In case you overdosed seek immediately emergency medical attention. The symptoms of overdose can be headache, giddiness and swooning.

Additional information

Do not give your prescribed drug to other people. You are not allowed to take drug without medical prescription. Do not treat other diseases using Flomax. Hide the ordered Flomax in inaccessible for children place. If the period of treatment lasts a long time, ask for addition drugs in advance.

Medicine interactions

It is not preferable to use other medicines during the period of treatment because it can cause unexpected side effects or the pill will not have the wanted result. There are some medicines that can be taken during the treatment. Your doctor must tell you about the non-prescription drugs that you may take together with Flomax.
